The Carer Visa is a permanent visa that lets you as well as your eligible dependents to apply either from within Australia or overseas to provide care to a close relative in Australia who has a long-term medical condition and mobility issues. The applicants must meet the applicable criteria, as summarised below for their visa application to be successful
- Be sponsored by an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen and the sponsorship has been approved by the minister
- Establish that the sponsor has an existing medical condition that requires full-time care and there is no one in Australia to provide that care
- All applicants must meet the health criteria and applicants over the age of 16 years also have to meet the character requirements
- When requested by DHA, the applicants must sign an Australian Values Statement
- No applicant has a debt to Australia
