The Remaining Relative Visa is meant to reunite Australian citizens, permanent residents and eligible New Zealand citizens with their blood relatives (either a sibling, step sibling or an adult child, step-child). As is the case with other family visa mentioned here, the applicants and their sponsor in Australia must meet certain requirements, as mentioned below, to obtain a positive outcome in their visa application
- Be sponsored by an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen and the sponsorship has been approved by the minister
- Establish that the applicant does not have any other blood relative (sibling, parent, spouse, adult children) living outside Australia
- Meet the health and character requirements
- Provide an Assurance of Support when requested by DHA
- Never had an Australian visa cancelled in the past
- Sign the Australian Values Statement
- Repay any debt to Australia
